Digital Director
Campaign: Tom Malinowski for Congress
Location: New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District
Start Date: March 2022
Compensation: $5,000 – 6,000/month depending on experience + health insurance coverage
Tom Malinowski for New Jersey, a highly competitive frontline congressional campaign key to holding the House in 2022, seeks a creative, passionate individual to design and run our cutting-edge digital program. The Digital Director is a member of the leadership team and reports to the Campaign Manager.
Role + Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the campaign’s digital strategy, including digital communications and digital organizing. Write digital campaign plan; build out/manage content calendar.
- General areas of responsibility include:
- digital communications strategy (email program, social media platforms, website management, creative content), involves collaborating with external consultants and communications colleagues to establish and maintain a consistent message across all channels.
- digital organizing and mobilization strategy (engage, manage and grow our online community of volunteers, supporters and donors; online -> offline ladder of engagement), involves close collaboration with organizing team.
- Active management of all digital communications channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc). Develop copy and content for digital platforms, including social posts, graphics, videos, email.
- Plan and lead campaign’s digital rapid response efforts
- Work closely with outside digital firms handling online ads and digital fundraising
- Manage the writing, editing and approvals process for the content for our email program, website, social platforms, texting, etc.
Qualifications
- 3 years experience working in digital media for a campaign, nonprofit or private sector company, including a minimum of one cycle on a campaign.
- Thorough understanding of the current social media landscape, best practices for each platform, and experience in creating optimized content for each channel.
- Proven eye for design and the skills to back it up; experience with Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator or other software to produce engaging graphics and video. Video editing experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Sprout or other digital analytics software to track performance and analytics.
Strong copywriting ability. You can capture our voice and elevate it to the next level. - Comms experience a plus.
- Experience with online organizing platforms like MobilizeAmerica, with SMS texting software, Google Drive and WordPress strongly desired.
- Curiosity! You are an early adopter of new digital tools and other innovations in digital communications, mobilization, and organizing, and know how to strategically implement them.
- Highly organized w/strong attention to detail, able to juggle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
