MOVEON REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (Independent contractors and firms)

Project title: Member Experience Content Creator/ Copywriter

Payment and availability: $40/hr for 20 hours a week (3-6 months)

Project Overview: MoveOn seeks an experienced individual consultant to write content to move people to action for several projects across the Member Experience department — including emails, web pages, quizzes, polls, surveys, and ad copy for social media for our PAC, C4, C3 entities. Our department has 12+ members working across mobile, email, and product, with oversight of a lot of member- and public-facing content, including our website. This is a content-producing role, taking strategic guidance from and reporting to our Email Experience Director.

Scope of work :
Responsible for creating both rapid response/timely content and evergreen content for quizzes, polls, surveys and other gamifying products used for growth channels — e.g., quizzes that are fun and align with MoveOn values and cover subject matters that we prioritize.
Responsible for creating and refining content on our website and other areas that product manages according to UX writing best practices
Works with social ads manager in creating content for ads across social media channels to promote membership growth by featuring our petitions, pledges, and other actions people can take to advance progressive change. The content needs to be engaging and speak to various relevant audiences we’re aiming to target.

Reports to: Jane Geam, Email Experience Director.

Criteria for selection: All applicants will be evaluated on the basis of criteria including:

Previous excellent work in copywriting for campaign needs as well as marketing channels (ie email, website, quizzes, etc) and ability to implement into necessary platforms (ie ActionKit, WordPress, Second Street, etc)
Demonstrated strength using copywriting for conversions, including creative copy testing
Ability to engage with and speak to different audiences in content creation
Strong equity lens, commitment to undoing systemic oppression in society and within workplaces, and skill in navigating complex dynamics around identity
Demonstrated experience working with value-driven organizations of similar national scale, complexity, public brand, and risk profile
Sophisticated progressive political analysis, with comfort across a range of issues & constituencies
Track record of exercising the highest level of confidentiality and judgment in high-risk political and/or organizational environments
Accountable, timely, and pays excellent attention to detail
Comes with a credible history of successful growth through copy on multiple platforms.

Additional job information: This is a 3-6 month contract for a content creator/copywriter to support the member experience team in webpage copy, paid social copy, email copy, quizzes, petitions, mobile copy, and more.

The individual will work closely with all sub-teams within the member experience team in creating copy and content using platforms ActionKit, SecondStreet, WordPress, and various other content management softwares. Within these platforms the individual will write emails, create fun quizzes/polls/votes that relate to progressive values, create short copy content for paid social. The day to day of this job will vary depending on the priority of the organization at the time, with a primary focus on growth and retention. The individual will need to have knowledge of current events that are important to the progressive movement, including breaking news, political affairs, ongoing progressive pushes.

Most-favorable terms:
MoveOn reserves the right to make an award without further discussion of the proposal submitted. Therefore, the proposal should be submitted initially on the most favorable terms that the vendor could propose. There will be no best-and-final-offer procedure. MoveOn does reserve the right to contact a vendor for clarification of its proposal.
The vendor should be prepared to accept this request for proposal for incorporation into a contract resulting from this request for proposal. Contract negotiations may incorporate some or the vendor’s entire proposal. It is understood that the proposal will become a part of the official procurement file on this matter without obligation to MoveOn.

Hours
MoveOn does not guarantee any particular number of hours to Consultants during a given time period. Payment is based on work.

No obligation to contract
This request for proposal does not obligate MoveOn to contract for services specified herein.

Rejection of proposals
MoveOn reserves the right at its sole discretion to reject any and all proposals received without penalty and not to issue a contract as a result of this request for proposal.
